Budapest thrilled

Budapeszt St. Stephens Bazyliki

Castle Hill, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and Synagogue – in the morning we get to know the most important sights of Budapest. After the city tour, we treat ourselves to an espresso in what is probably the most beautiful coffee house in Budapest. With its magnificent interior, the New York Café is legendary. The afternoon is free. How about a visit to the Szépművészeti Múzeum (Museum of Fine Arts)? His exhibition is one of the most important art collections in the world. If you prefer to explore Budapest through culinary delights, then you can visit Molnár’s Kürtőskalács and try the Hungarian tree striezel.

Hiking on the Danube Bend

Visegrad Hungary

We chug on the Danube steamer to Visegrád on the Danube bend. From the harbor we climb the 247 m high mountain cone on which the famous Visegrád Castle nestles. We enjoy the wonderful view of the Danube and hike down to the Salomon Tower on the banks of the Danube. After the break on the river bank, we take the train back to Budapest. In the evening we dine in a traditional restaurant with Hungarian specialties.

Green Budapest with Margaret Island

A special feature of Budapest are the city’s parks and green spaces. One of the most beautiful is the city forest (Városliget), which, with its castle and boating pond, conjures up a rural idyll in the middle of the big city. But the most beautiful park is on Margaret Island: Here we stroll directly along the banks of the Danube. If you want, you can have a good time in the Ensana Therme (GZ: 2 1/2 hours, +/- 100 m). If you would rather visit a traditional Budapest coffee house, we recommend Café Passage Parisi. In the evening we hike to Gellért Hill to admire a sunset over the city.

Szentendre and the Danube beach

Szentendre Hungary

Szentendre is known as an artists’ colony. But the town is worth seeing for its picturesque streets and colorful houses that exude Mediterranean charm. After the sightseeing, we hike to the Danube beach, where Budapest residents eat their favorite fish “Hekk” in small fish restaurants on the banks of the Danube – how about lunch in this idyllic place? We enjoy dinner at a ship restaurant – a perfect end to our trip!
